I went to Target for a few simple items and left with just those.
I do believe that's a bona fide miracle.

is this weird?
I love grocery shopping. It's one of my favorite things to do on the weekend. I don't know why. Seriously... I have absolutely no idea why I enjoy it so much. Maybe it's because Ted & I do the shopping together? I don't know. Maybe it's because we do 99% of our shopping at Sam's Club and I l-o-v-e that place? I just love seeing all that stuff they have.
I mean... how many places can you: shop for groceries (including produce & fresh meat), buy new tires, get your oil changed, buy the latest books/movies/games/music/magazines, stock up on some season appropriate clothing (for every member of the family), buy your cat/dog supplies, stock your home bar, stock up on office supplies, keep your house stocked with more frozen entrees/proteins/desserts & snacks, keep your bathroom & medicine cabinet stocked, & pick up a pretty darn yummy birthday cake?!
My love for Sam's Club just never ends. A few weeks ago we went there to buy eggs. We got like 18 eggs for $2. TWO DOLLARS. Gallon of milk? $2.
I may be slowly selling my soul by buying cheap & in bulk... but man... do I love it. & don't even get me started in those yummy hotdogs in their food court! A delicious hotdog + a soda so big no human should even consume that much in a week? $2. I'm noticing a trend...

desks & clothes & candy, oh my!
Today I went to The Wonderful Land of Endless Design Possibilities... aka Ikea. I love that place. My mind starts to go into overload as soon as I hit the entrance. I got a new desk. That was the super exciting thing I went there for. It was honestly a deflating trip because I had to turn a blind eye to the sleeper sofa I really want to put in our office for any overnight guests, the new bed frame I really want*, the super cuteness chair I want in our living room, and other miscellaneous cute things.
After Ikea I had some returns to take to Old Navy and let me just tell you... they had some Big Wig Corporates from Old Navy in the store, and I have never gotten such great service as I did today. That place is full of bright, fun, Summery things right now. Makes me wish I loved Summer.
Then I went to See's Candy to get the last part of my mom's Mother's Day present. I was lectured by the See's lady about how if I get the peppermint patty's I can't put them in the same box with everything else, they'll make everything else taste like peppermint. Let me preface by saying that by this point it was 4:00pm, HOT outside, I was tired & thirsty, and had been waiting in line for about 10 minutes to order. So this old See's lady is lecturing me about how I'm going to ruin my mom's Mother's Day if I mix the candies (ok it may not have been that dramatic... but close!). I'm standing there with a line of very grumpy people behind me, and I'm about the cry because this See's lady hates me and all I can think is "I don't have time to come back before Sunday! I'm working all day Saturday! Please stop making me feel like the worst daughter ever and just package my mother's half pound of hip-lovin'!" Then she handed me something dark chocolate & delicious and I proclaimed my love for her. The End.
*Dear Husband, if Ikea had that bed frame in an espresso finish it would have made it into our house. xoxo - Wife.

fly a kite!
Sometimes I want to give the big middle finger to two things, one of which may shock you:
Marriage & mortgages. The M&M. Otherwise know as Responsibility.
Explanation:
I love being married - don't get me wrong. I love my hubs, he's the best, & I know just how lucky we are.
On the other hand - sometimes I just want to tell Responsibility to go "fly a kite!" (I can't say what I really want to say, what if my mom saw this?!)
The days where I was so impulsive & just irresponsible enough to throw down $400 on a new purse, yeah - those days were not so long ago, just a couple of years really. Now the prospect of spending more than $100 on anything like that... Uh, yeah - so not happening. :) I wish I could say that I looked at myself and decided that being more financially responsible was best for ME, but alas, I can not. I do this for my husband (and me, but just a little... because not being homeless is still sexier than that Marc Jacobs bag).
Being financially responsible has never been my strong suit. I lived for a long time with the theory that, sure I can charge $300 at the Gap, I'll worry about it next month... and the next month... and the next. You see where this is going? It's never one splurge on clothes, or one new bag, one new hot pair of shoes, etc. It's many many many things. I want to be a financially independent married woman. Haha... is that even something that's possible? I want to depend on my husband, I don't want to be dependent on him. I love being a home owner more than any pair of shoes you put in front of me. And really... the "sacrificing" I thought I was going to have to make once I got married & bought a house? Yeah... it's not so bad. This is better than anything you could throw at me.

p.s.: Doesn't this bag just need me?? :) My mother can attest to my childhood obsession with all things dayglo... seems to have followed me to adulthood.
